There is just enough leather to slide Elvira (when you love your sidearm, you should really give it a name)up to the mag release and cover the trigger. It looks way too small, but is incredibly comfortable, has never let Elvira slip out and is easy to draw with.
It's both one of the most wonderful and most terrible qualities about our country; this right to free speech. At times it allows some really foolish cats to sound off and pursue agendas that are dangerous to society (i.e. anti-gunners), especially when we let them get away with it.

Concerning the initial question, I agree 100,000% with teachers carrying at ALL schools (pre-schools, grade schools, high schools, colleges, universities, etc). No additional training required (if they passed the qualifications to get their permit, that's good enough for me). If anything, make it mandatory TO carry; wouldn't THAT stir up some folk! heh heh ;) I also believe that college/university students with a CCW permit should be able to legally carry at any and all places of higher learning that they attend. Hell, give them a grant for carrying; a "personal responsibility" reward. It would have a two-fold positive affect even; (1) reduce the amount of psychotic shooter events in our nation's colleges & universities, and (2) scare off some far-left students from furthering their education and thus becoming more foolish & dangerous than they already are. Man, I've got some good ideas today! ;)

I carry a glock 38. I prefer the .45 GAP round because in a glock it actually fits in my hand (looked at a .45 ACP glock and the grip was so damn large I might as well buy a desert eagle :-P)

Why do I carry that particular gun and round? I explained the "fit" portion of it, but as far as safety is concerned I wouldn't carry a magnum because I very well could kill the person behind the intended target. The .45 has the best balance of destructive potential and penetration, without over penetration, as far as I can tell.

I would not carry a .380 I will wear jeans and long sleeves on a hot day to this end. There is just simply nothing to a .380, the accuracy isn't there, and a .22magnum is quite possibly more destructive than it. The .380 is notorious for not being capable of penetrating bone.

The next pistol I will buy will be an FN FiveseveN. For a few reasons, the first one is 1890 FPS. The second is it's point effective range is out to around 100 yards, which is DAMN good with a pistol. And it just looks damn good too.

Well as far as the hospital I can understand that one, somewhat. I personally believe that if you have a clean enough record and the mind to get a concealed carry permit you should be allowed to even carry on a plane (with certain restrictions on load out and such no FMJ's or +P .44 Magnums for obvious reasons) but it stands to reason that all of the worst losses of lives to single gunman have all been in places where handguns aren't allowed.

From my experience with it I'd guess the numerous P3AT recommendations are because of (1) the reasonable price, (2) reliability (never had a problem with mine), & (3) small size and lightweight. It is really easy to drop in pocket, front or back (especially with the optional belt clip, which allows it to easily hang inside a pocket as well, like a good folding knife), and almost "forget" about. Never too terribly quick to draw from a pocket, of course, but it beats having nothing! So far it's always been just a BUG for me, but to each their own! :)

And, no, the NRA exclusion wasn't accidental. ;) Actually, my holdout is kind of petty; had an unpleasant run-in (i.e. disagreement that basically turned into nasty name-calling & hate speech on their part) with some big NRA guys a good while ago now. Granted, it's foolish to shun the organization over a few idiotic members (who do not represent the organization as a whole, of course), but also, I think the NRA has taken a weaker stance than they should've on some gun rights issues in the past (so I've read). Have been meaning to look into their more recent events and actions (which may likely cause me to reconsider joining). Just haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the reminder of sorts I suppose. ;)

Also a Taurus .38 Ultralite in a generic IWB and either a Jetfire .25acp or Bobcat 21a .22lr in a Blackhawk pocket holster. I'm looking to buy a .380 so I posted a question on AR15.com asking what you would put in your pocket when going out on a hot summer day wearing shorts & tee shirt. The odds on favorite by a wide margin was the P3at. I don't know if this is because of its reasonable price or its reliability.
Can't think of any place in Arkansas off the top of my head, but there's a local burger joint, Huey's, in Memphis (have several locations there) that USED to be one of my fav spots until they went no handguns. I'll miss the good burgers and steak on a stick, but they've lost my business with that braindead decision.

Heya!

New ARCCA member here; been a member of the United States Concealed Carry Assoc. for awhile now, which is great! Although I wanted something a little more regional to compliment it, which lead me here.

Anyways, looks like there hasn't been a new thread in awhile. Time to change that! :) And with something that anyone can reply to fairly easily:

What do you concealed carry (& why, if you care to explain :)?

You can pretty much always count on me toting my Springfield XD 5" 45acp compact (with Crimson Trace lasergrip & Trijicon night sights) along with a backup mag or 2; and my Keltec P3AT in my left rear pocket for my B.U.G. (backup gun). Also have a Taurus 651 .357 mag snub (also with Crimson Trace lasergrip) for alternate carry. I have Crossbreed holsters (have yet to find a more comfortable, practical IWB holster; & their gun belt is great too!!) for my primary carry guns (Supertuck for XD & Minituck for snub) and a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster for my Keltec. In addition to my sidearms, I also carry a good folding knife (Blackhawk Bewharned), powerful mini-flashlight (Quark 123 squared), a good cell phone (one of the most underrated, important pieces of self defense equipment!!), a kubotan & pepper spray on my keychain, and a hand grenade in my other rear pocket.

Okay, so maybe not the hand grenade (darn things won't fit in my pockets...!!), but everything else for sure. If you're going to be prepared, BE PREPARED. Why half arse it, right?

Next post!! :D
