Hi folks, Scott Vaughn here in Jonesboro.
About what Grant stated earlier, the sign MUST say those exact words in quotation marks, period. The quote marks make the term between them "exact".
There are signs in place all over the state that have been there since BEFORE act 219 of 1995 that allows conceal carry. Since the law changed in '95 the legislators made it plain what a legal sign is concerning CHL citizens,
The real problem is: the police don't always know the law (concerning concealed handguns) as most departments aren't trained in this area (individuals firearm right's) so, SURE you could be arrested! It's better to be arrested than dead. (I'm using this statement about police departments knowledge of CHL law from my experience and information from law enforcement friends around this area and what another instructor stated in a different post of mine. He is also a Sergeant on a police force in another part of the state)
Some say "that's enough that the place has some kind of sign to keep me from carrying there". That is your right, but it is also your right to carry there if the sign isn't the legal term, placing and visibility.
I say if the place want's to disarm us from self protection, they are responsible for our protection while we are inside their place.
You can choose to leave your gun outside. You can't generally choose your attacker, time or place.
